The Tecno Camon 50 and 50 Pro smartphones are now officially available in various African markets, despite the initial plan to unveil them at MWC next month. Both devices share similar specifications, but the Pro model stands out with its curved screen and 3x telephoto camera. The Camon 50 Pro boasts a stunning 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, housing a 32MP selfie camera and an under-display optical fingerprint scanner. The non-Pro variant, on the other hand, features the same screen and camera specifications but with a flat panel design. Both phones are powered by MediaTek's Helio G200 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The rear cameras are impressive, with a 50MP main camera (23mm equivalent) using Sony's LYT700C sensor and OIS, and an 8MP ultrawide lens (14mm) with an f/2.2 aperture. The Pro model adds a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Both devices run on HiOS 16, based on Android 16, and come equipped with Tecno's AI suite. They also share a 6,150mAh battery with 45W wired charging and IP69K/IP69/IP68 ingress protection. The Tecno Camon 50 series is available in six vibrant colors: Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Mint Cream. The Camon 50 Pro is available in the same colors plus an additional Ethereal Blue shade. Prices in Kenya start at KES 37,500 ($290) for the Camon 50 and KES 44,000 ($341) for the Camon 50 Pro, making them accessible to tech enthusiasts across the region.
